iPhone App
Watch your bounces and control Fast Bounce from your iPhone: start, pause or stop bouncing, queue bounces, and get the Bounce Summary as a notification.
In short
Open Fast Bounce
Open Fast Bounce on the Mac and sign in. There is nothing to turn on. Remote control is part of the paid plans.
Sign in on the phone
Open the Fast Bounce app on your iPhone and sign in with the same account. Your computer appears within a minute.
Bounce from anywhere
Watch it bounce, pause or stop it, and queue bounces from the couch or the car. When bouncing ends, the Bounce Summary arrives as a notification.
The Fast Bounce app for iPhone shows what is happening on your computer and lets you act on it from anywhere. It sees what Fast Bounce sees and works only while Fast Bounce is open and you are signed in. It queues bounces and starts them; you add bounces on the Mac.
It is one screen, laid out like the Fast Bounce window: your loaded sessions as numbered tiles across the top, the selected session's bounces in the middle, and the bouncing at the bottom. Watch it with its progress, the bounce in progress and every bounce's status, and get the Bounce Summary as a notification when it finishes or stops; press Bounce… (the same sheet as on the Mac: tick the sessions, drag them into order, and set Wait after opening a session and Email me when it's done), Pause, Resume and Stop; queue and unqueue bounces in any loaded session, open a session in Pro Tools, or eject one.
Connect a computer
Open Fast Bounce on the Mac and sign in. Remote control is always on while you are signed in on a paid plan, so there is nothing to turn on. On the phone, sign in with the same account and the computer connects by itself and appears within a minute. Until an iPhone is signed in, Settings › iPhone App says it is waiting for one. With more than one computer, pick the one to control at the top of the screen or in the app's Settings.
On the Mac, Settings › iPhone App shows this computer's name, the same one the phone and your account on fastbounce.app show, and says when it is reachable and when a phone last sent a command.
Paid plans
Remote control is part of the Monthly, Annual and Perpetual plans. On the free plan the computer doesn't connect, and the phone says your plan doesn't include remote control.
Sign in on the phone
Sign in the way you do on the Mac: Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google, or your email and password. The phone can also create your account, if you don't have one yet. A fourth way is Link with a code: the phone shows a 6-digit code, and you type it under Link an iPhone in Settings › iPhone App on the Mac, or on the Devices & Sessions page of your account on fastbounce.app. Only link a phone you are holding.
Connected iPhones in Settings › iPhone App lists every iPhone signed in to your account, with its app version and when it was last active. Sign Out next to one signs it out, and the phone goes back to its sign-in screen. The Devices & Sessions page lists the same phones, shows whether each one gets notifications, and signs them out too.
Settings (the gear) shows your account and, under Plan & Billing, your plan and its status. If you pay for it, you also see the trial end, the next billing date or the last day of access, and the price. On a team plan it says who provides the plan, and a Perpetual plan shows its seats. Your card, invoices and any change to the plan stay in your account on fastbounce.app. About links to this guide, the Privacy Policy and the Terms.
To delete your account from the phone, open Settings, scroll to Danger Zone at the bottom and choose Delete Account. It asks for your password, or for the word DELETE when the account has none. A running subscription has to be cancelled on fastbounce.app first.
Check the connection
Right after sign-in, the phone shows a short checklist for your computer: Fast Bounce is open, your plan includes remote control, and whether Pro Tools is running (you can set up bounces without it). When everything is ready, it moves on to the main screen by itself. Quit Fast Bounce or put the computer to sleep, and within about a second the phone goes back to the checklist and says "Closed" or "Asleep", so you never tap controls that can't reach the computer; open Fast Bounce again and the main screen comes back. Close only the Fast Bounce window and the phone stays connected: it says the window is closed, and Open brings it back.
The notification
The first time you start bouncing from the phone, iOS asks whether Fast Bounce may notify you. Allow it, and the Bounce Summary's headline, "Your bounces have finished" or "Bouncing stopped", arrives on the lock screen with the counts and the computer's name, once per batch. Tap it to open the summary: the counts, each failure with its reason, and the sessions, the same as in the app, the email and your dashboard. Every summary, from all your computers, is on the Bounce Summaries screen, behind the document button next to the gear. It works while the Mac is asleep, and the bouncing controls stay at the bottom while you read. You can change your mind about notifications later in the app's Settings.
How it connects
The phone talks to Fast Bounce through the Fast Bounce server, never directly to your computer, and only while you are signed in here. Nothing is opened on the Mac. The app opens on what your computer last sent, so the screen is there at once, and changes on the Mac show up on the phone about a second later. Without a connection it keeps showing the last state and says how old it is.
Keep in mind
- Keep Fast Bounce open while it bounces. The bounces live in the Fast Bounce window. Closing it ends them.
- A bounce in progress is never cancelled. As in the window, pause and stop take effect after the bounce Pro Tools is working on.
- The phone goes through the server. It works only while this computer is signed in.
- Signing out stops the phone until you sign in again.
- To cut off a phone, press Sign Out next to it under Connected iPhones. It needs to sign in again to reach your computer.
