Load multiple sessions

Load a whole album or project at once, apply your presets to every session on the way in, and bounce them all in one run.

In short

  1. Drop them in

Drop your session files into Fast Bounce, or click + and Load from PTX….

  2. Pick presets

Choose the presets or groups to apply to every session, or Add sessions only to add bounces later.

  3. Check

Fast Bounce checks every session for the presets' tracks, buses and markers. Every miss gets a one-click fix.

  4. Name and add

Look over the names the new bounces will get, then add them. The sessions appear in the rail with their bounces queued.

  5. Bounce them all

Press Bounce… once and Fast Bounce runs every session in order, switching sessions in Pro Tools by itself.

Load Sessions adds many sessions in one go, an album or a whole project, and can apply your presets to all of them on the way in. It's the fastest way from a folder of sessions to a full queue. To add just the session that's open in Pro Tools, see Load a session.

Open Load Sessions

  • Drop your session files anywhere on the Fast Bounce window, or on + in the rail.
  • Or click + and Load from PTX…, then Choose Sessions… to pick them in Finder.

The four steps

1. Sessions

The sessions you dropped, each checked off as Fast Bounce reads it. A session it can't read says so; the others still load.

2. Presets

Pick presets, or whole preset groups, to apply to every session you're loading. Or choose Add sessions only to load them with no bounces, and add bounces to each one later. See Presets.

3. Check

For each session, whether the presets' tracks, buses and markers were found there. Every miss has a one-click answer:

IssueWhat Fast Bounce offers
Track missingThe closest-named track in that session, or Skip this track.
Bus missingPick another mix source.
Markers differThe range markers matched to the closest names in that session.
Name existsKeep both, Replace or Skip.

A Batch preset with a rule never reports a missing track: it takes whatever tracks match the rule in each session. Sessions built on the same template usually check clean. See Presets.

4. Name

The names the new bounces will get, one panel per session:

  • Before and After wrap each name. Before starts with the session name (Song B - ).
  • Use Preset name in Batch bounces puts the preset's name into each Batch file name, with the separator you pick (Song B - Stems - Lead Vocal).
  • What gets added lists every file name, with ×8 for a Batch that makes eight.

Then Add 23 Bounces to 2 Sessions. See Naming Rules for the rules behind the proposed names.

The sessions appear in the rail with their bounces, checked and Queued. Each session's list is saved in its own folder, like any other session's.

Running all of them

Press Bounce… in the footer. The Bounce sheet lists every session with queued bounces:

  • Drag sessions to set the order.
  • Untick a session to leave it out of this run.
  • Wait after opening a session gives Pro Tools time to finish loading plug-ins before the first bounce in each session. Turn it on if the first bounce of a heavy session ever fails.

Fast Bounce then works through the queue session by session: it closes the current session in Pro Tools, opens the next one, and bounces its list. The footer counts across all sessions ("Bouncing 14 of 36"), and the Summary at the end groups the files by session. See Start Bouncing.
