When something doesn't bounce
Fast Bounce says what's wrong where it happens: in the title bar badge, on the mode buttons, or on the row that failed. This page lists those messages and what to do.
Nothing can be added
| You see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Badge: Pro Tools not running | Fast Bounce can't reach Pro Tools. | Open Pro Tools and click the badge to retry. If Pro Tools is open, quit and relaunch it. |
| Badge: No session open | Pro Tools is running without a session. | Open one, or click the session's Open in Pro Tools button. |
| Mode buttons: "Open this session in Pro Tools to add bounces" | You're viewing a session that isn't the open one. | Click Open in Pro Tools in the header, or switch to the open session (green dot). |
| Add sheet: "Nothing is selected in Pro Tools" | Solo, Mute and Batch start from a track selection. | Select the tracks in Pro Tools, then press the mode button again. |
| Add sheet: "No clips on active audio tracks" | Clips starts from the audio tracks you've selected. | Select audio tracks that have clips, then try again. |
| "Free accounts can add up to 4 Bounces per Session" | Free plan limit. | Run the four, then add more; or see Account, plans and offline access. |
A row says Failed
The reason is on the row and in the Summary's Needs attention list.
| Reason | What to do |
|---|---|
| The folder doesn't exist, or permission denied | Pick the folder again in the folder chip, or choose one you can write to. |
| Not enough disk space | Free up space, or bounce to another disk via Choose in Finder…. |
| Illegal characters, or name too long | Names can't contain `/ \ : * ? " < > |
| A marker no longer exists | The range points at memory locations that were deleted or renamed. Open the range chip and pick them again. |
| Sample rate mismatch | Pro Tools refused the rate for this session. Set the sample rate chip to Session. |
| Pro Tools is not responding | Pro Tools was busy or showed a dialog. Check Pro Tools, then run again. For heavy sessions, turn on Wait after opening a session in the Bounce sheet. |
Fix the bounce, leave it checked and press Bounce… again: only what's still queued runs.
Stopped isn't failed. When you press Stop, the bounce in progress keeps its status and the rest stay Queued.
Report a problem
Open Settings › Support › Open Diagnostics…. The Report a Problem window records what the app and Pro Tools do while you reproduce the issue:
- Start a recording. A REC pill appears in the title bar.
- Make the problem happen in Fast Bounce and Pro Tools.
- Describe what happened, then Send to Support.
Passwords, sign-in details and emails are never recorded. We reply to your account email. For anything else, write to team@fastbounce.app.
